Its a Kim Ha-seong’s Team Dies at Age 63

The owner of the San Diego Padres, where Kim Ha-seong (27, San Diego Padres) worked, passed away at the age of 63.

American sports channel ESPN reported that team owner Peter Seidler passed away on the 14th (local time) at the age of 63. 

The cause of death was not immediately disclosed

but owner Seidler had been suffering from Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of blood cancer, for a long time.

He also revealed in September that he had undergone a medical procedure that would prevent him from attending games.

Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred issued a statement, saying

Sidler, the grandson of former LA Dodgers owner Walter O’Malley

took over the San Diego team in 2012 with his uncle, Peter O’Malley, and others.

Seidler, who became the largest shareholder in 2020, became the owner and chairman of the baseball team. 

San Diego under Seidler’s regime has invested heavily over the past few years, but has never been able to win the World Series.

Chairman Seidler’s dream of leading the team to a World Series championship did not come true during his lifetime.

To honor the deceased, the Padres plan to open the home plate gate at Petco Park as a memorial space.
