Former Macao Casino Executive Power Joins Vietnam’s Hotram

Most recently, Walt Power, a former Macau casino executive who was a non-executive director of South Shore Holdings, confirmed the appointment to GGRA as chief executive of Hortram Projects Inc.

The company is the developer of Grand Ho Tram Streep (pictured), a resort complex with casinos on the southeastern coast of Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Grand Ho Tram Strip is being developed in several stages. The first phase of the project, which includes a hotel and a casino, began in July 2013.

The company controlled by Warburg Pincus LLC, a U.S.-based private equity firm, is currently the founder of Grand Ho Tram Streep and the majority shareholder of Asia Coastal Development Limited (ACDL), the parent company of Ho Tram Project Co. Vina Capital Group Ltd., a Vietnamese investment firm, has a minority stake in ACDL’s new controlling company.

Hong Kong-listed SouthShore said in a filing on Monday that Mr Power had resigned as a non-executive director since that day. Mr Power stepped down as CEO of SouthShore in May 2019. SouthShore developed a luxury Macau hotel called The 13, which once hoped for a casino. The hotel is currently closed, according to the Macau government tourism agency, a local licensing body.
