Winter Olympics, 2030 Alps, 2034 Salt Lake City ‘confirmed’

The 2030 and 2034 Winter Olympics will be held in the French Alps and Salt Lake City, Utah, respectively.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) confirmed the two locations as the sole candidates at its Executive Board meeting in Paris, France, on Tuesday, according to its official website.

In selecting the French Alps as the sole candidate for the 2030 Games, the IOC praised the goal of transforming the Southern and Northern Alps into winter sports destinations through a transition to a sustainable tourism strategy in the face of climate change.

France also has a successful track record of hosting international events, including the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Courchevel and Meribel last February.”

Following further discussions led by the French and US National Olympic Committees, the IOC will confirm the final selection of the Games at its Session 142 in Paris next July. 카지노사이트

Olympic venues are selected by the Executive Board, chaired by the IOC President, who presents a single candidate and the members of the IOC Session put their stamp of approval on it.

France won the bid for the 2030 Games, although Switzerland and Sweden were also in the running, and only Salt Lake City, USA, was in the running for the 2034 Games.

Switzerland, which lost out, will be given priority in discussions for the 2038 Games.

France has previously hosted the Winter Olympics three times, in Chamonix in 1924, Grenoble in 1968 and Albertville in 1992.

Salt Lake City also hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics.
