Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) could be on his way to the MLS.
Football Insider reported on Thursday that “Der Bruyne is unlikely to receive his £20 million ($35 million) a year salary after opening talks with San Diego FC. De Bruyne is a top-class player who is considered one of the best midfielders the Premier League has ever produced. Born in 1991, he’s still considered one of the best on the pitch despite his advanced age.
Since joining City in 2015, he has been an integral part of the team, and the club has won six EPL titles, two FA Cups, five League Cups, and one UEFA Champions League title with him.
But he didn’t have all the time in the world. Injuries have been a recurring problem since the 2022-2023 season, and he hasn’t been able to play much this season.
This has forced City to consider re-signing him.
Of course, there was a lot of interest in the player. Even Saudi Arabia has been interested in signing him.
A year ago, according to Belgian HLN and The Athletic, 파워볼사이트 the Saudi offer was a whopping €70 million ($104.9 billion). That’s an astronomical sum.
De Bruyne is still the highest paid player in the PL.
He reportedly receives £17.68 million ($31.3 billion) per year from City. However, it’s nothing compared to the Saudi’s ‘oil money’.
In addition to Saudi Arabia, the United States has recently been pursuing The Bruener.
San Diego, a new club in the Major League Soccer (MLS), is trying to sign The Brainer as it builds its roster ahead of its entry into the league in 2025.
The player himself is reportedly attracted to the MLS. However, San Diego wants to take a pay cut from the player. As Football Insider explains, “According to reports, it will be difficult for him to earn the same level of pay as he did at City due to his injury history. The player has reportedly held talks with San Diego. Der Bruyne currently earns £20.8 million ($37 million) a year at City. However, he has been sidelined for the past six weeks with a thigh injury and returned to the substitutes’ bench against Bournemouth last time out, but was unable to start.”
The Brazilian’s frequent injury problems have now forced him to take a pay cut. Of course, that could change if the Saudis re-enter the race for his signature. But for now, he’ll have to take a pay cut.
