Lee has become a key player for the South Korean national soccer team under Jürgen Klinsmann this year.
He scored a goal in South Korea’s 5-0 win over Singapore in the first round of the FIFA Confederations Cup North America 2026 Asian qualifiers at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on June 16, and assisted Son Heung-min’s header with an exquisite corner kick in South Korea’s 3-0 win over China on June 21 at the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Center in Guangdong, China.
Lee’s performance helped South Korea to a second straight win in World Cup Asia 2018 qualifying.
Lee has emerged as the “Prince of Cleanliness” after recording back-to-back offensive points (four goals and three assists) in his last four A matches, including a multi-goal performance in the Tunisia (4-0) and Vietnam (6-0) qualifiers last month.
