All three South Korean athletes competing in the second event of the International Ice Skating Union (ISU) Figure Junior Grand Prix season finished on the podium.
All three Korean athletes made the podium at the second International Ice Skating Union (ISU) Figure Junior Grand Prix of the 2023-24 season, which concluded on Wednesday in Linz, Austria. Shin Jia, 한국야동 gold medalist in the women’s singles.
Shin Jia, 15, scored 130.95 points in the women’s single free skate, the highest score among competitors, after combining technical and artistic scores, on Feb. 2 in Linz, Austria. After taking first place in the short program the previous day with a score of 70.38, Shin won the gold medal with a total score of 201.33. This is her first win of the season after not competing in the first round of the Junior Grand Prix in Bangkok, Thailand, last month. She won her first gold medal at an international major event last season when she topped the podium at the third Junior Grand Prix (September).
Shin was the only one of the 33 women’s singles competitors to score in the 200s at the event. She was 32.96 points clear of second-place finisher Haruna Murakami (168.37 points-Japan). Shin said, “I was happy to perform a satisfactory short program. I made a few mistakes in the free skate, but I’m glad I finished the competition well,” said Shin. “I will try to do better in the next five competitions.” Shin’s previous best score was 206.01, 성인웹툰 set when she won a silver medal at the Junior World Championships in April last year.

Kwon finished eighth (50.10 points) in the short program, but took bronze in the free skate with a second-place finish (115.83 points). South Korea won silver in the women’s singles at the first round of competition last month, with Kim Yoo-sung (14) taking silver and Han Hee-soo (15) taking bronze.
