Suwon Samsung head coach Kim Byung-soo was full of praise for Voultuis’ late goal as the team picked up their second win at home.
Suwon defeated Jeju United 1-0 in the 27th round of the Hana OneQ K League 2023 at Suwon World Cup Stadium at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 18, thanks to a late goal from Voultuis. Suwon picked up their second straight home win.
Suwon’s unbeaten run through the month of July was interrupted by a Suwon derby loss just after the break, but the three points at home against Jeju, following a point away to Jeonbuk Hyundai last time out, knocked them off the bottom of the table (W11 D12 L20 P18) and up to 11th place (W8 D15 L20 P26) after 27 rounds.
Coach Kim said in the official post-match press conference, “Both teams started cautiously and approached the game cautiously until the end. Vultuis came on as a substitute today and scored with a great header. It was one of the most beautiful header goals I’ve ever seen, and I think it won us the game.”
Suwon has kept a clean sheet in 10 games in the league. Kim said, “I can’t think about conceding goals. You play soccer to win, and it’s important not to concede goals. He reminded me of things I didn’t know, and the players’ concentration stood out.”
Kim, who had criticized Vultures before the game for their “lack of dedication to the team,” said, “We need to play selflessly, as I said we need to be positive and show good energy in difficult situations. We need to play selflessly and show positive energy in 토토 difficult situations. Even though Boultuis is a foreign player, he has the same feelings and is working hard, so I’m happy to see that.”
The reason for his introduction was Park Dae-won’s injury. When asked if he would have expected the team to score, Kim said, “Park Dae-won actually had an injury, so he’s still not in top form, but he did a good job. It’s time for us to utilize Vultuis with confidence. I’m hoping that the competition between the two players will turn into a good situation for the team.
When asked about the performance of the substitutes other than Vultuis, he said, “There are not many players who are in good shape. “I think we’ve done a good job of rotating them in some way,” he said. “It’s in the eye of the beholder, but I think we’ve done a good job of making the right substitutions.
