‘Soccer God’ Messi signs with MLS’s Inter Miami through 2025

Could play in the League Cup as early as the 22nd

Lionel Messi, the “God of Soccer” who led Argentina to victory at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, has signed with Inter Miami of Major League Soccer (MLS).

The club announced on its website on Saturday (June 16) that it has signed World Cup champion Messi until 2025.

Messi, whose contract expired in June after playing for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), will take on a new challenge in an Inter Miami uniform.

Terms of the deal, including salary, were not disclosed, but local media reported that Messi could earn up to $60 million.

“I’m delighted to continue my career at Inter Miami,” Messi said, “It’s a fantastic opportunity and I’m looking forward to helping the team achieve its goals.”

Messi is expected to start playing as early as the League Cup match against Cruz Azul on Sept. 22.
