Lee Sang-hyun, the deputy head coach of the Korean Olympic team for the Paris 2024 Games, wished the Taein Athletic Scholarship students the best of luck.
The Taein Athletic Scholarship was started in 1990 as a scholarship program implemented by Taein Corporation, which is headed by Lee Sang-hyun.
It has been awarded annually to athletes in various sports and has provided nearly 600 million won in scholarships to 681 athletes so far this year.
Eight Taein Athletic Scholarship students will be competing for medals at the Paris Games, including archers Kim Woo-jin, Kim Jeduk and Lim Si-hyun, weightlifter Park Hye-jung, sports climber Seo Chae-hyun and Lee Do-hyun, swimmer Heo Yeon-kyung and shooter Oh Ye-jin.
In addition, fencer Koo Bon-gil serves as an advisor for the Taein Athletic Scholarship.
“We started the Taein Sports Scholarship Program to foster protagonists who will lead Korean sports in the future,” said Lee Sang-hyun, deputy head coach of the Taein Athletic Scholarship Program, who arrived in Paris, France, with the main Korean team on Feb. 20. ”I hope our athletes will remain injury-free at the Games and showcase their talents to shine for Korea.”
In addition to Koo, the current advisors of the Taein Athletic Scholarship include International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Yoo Seung-min and parliamentarians Lim Oh-kyung and Jin Jong-oh, and previous advisors include the late Son Ki-jung, winner of the 1936 Berlin Olympic marathon.
Taein is a small and medium-sized company that makes earth leakage circuit breakers and memory modules.
Lee will take over as the head of the Korea Hockey Association in 2021, becoming the first third-generation head of a sports organization in Korean sports history, following his maternal grandfather, the late Koo Tae-hoe, former president of the Korea Weightlifting Federation, and his father, Lee In-jung, former president of the Korea Mountaineering Federation. 파워볼사이트
