Seungmin Lee, ‘Wooyoungwoo of the golf world’, passes the fifth cut of the KPGA Tour

Founders Cup 2R tied for 16th place “Goal of entering the top 10”

Seungmin Lee’s second round match.

Developmentally disabled golfer Seung-min Lee, known as ‘Golf’s Woo Young-woo’, succeeded in passing the cut for the fifth time on the Korea Professional Golf (KPGA) Tour.

Seungmin Lee hit 2 under par 70 in the second round of the KPGA Tour Founders Cup (total prize money of 700 million won) held at Hanmac Country Club (par 72) in Yecheon, Gyeongsangbuk-do on the 19th.

Seungmin Lee, who recorded a total of 6 under par 138 strokes in the first and second rounds, easily passed the cut in a tie for 16th place.

Lee Seung-min, who has autism and developmental disability, achieved his dream of becoming a professional golfer through persistent challenges despite his disability, and received attention as an example of human victory, like the drama protagonist Woo Young-woo, who overcame autism and became an outstanding lawyer.

In 2022, he became the inaugural champion of the US Adaptive Open Golf, a competition between disabled golfers, and took second place last year.

This is already the fifth time that Lee Seung-min, who competed in his 37th KPGA Tour tournament, has passed the cut.

He passed the cut for the first time at the DB Insurance Promy Open in 2018, the SK Telecom Open in 2022, and last year he participated in two weekend games, including the Golfzon Open in April and the KB Financial Live Championship in May.

Seung-min Lee, who had high expectations of passing the cut by hitting 68, the personal record for the lowest score in 18 holes the day before, played a stable game on this day as well.

Seungmin Lee, who caught 5 birdies, also had 3 bogeys, but produced an under par score for two days in a row.

Seungmin Lee expressed satisfaction with his performance, saying, “Everything went well, including the driver, iron, and putt.”

In particular, he revealed that it was a big help to increase his driver distance by increasing his weight by about 5kg during winter training.

The driver shot distance, which was about 270 yards until last year, is now close to 300 yards.

Seungmin Lee said, “After teeing off, the distance to the green shortened, making play easier.”

Thanks to this, it became easier to catch birdies. Seungmin Lee made a total of 10 birdies over two days in the first and second rounds.

Seungmin Lee’s next goal is to place in the top 10.

Seungmin Lee’s highest ranking ever was a tie for 37th place at last year’s KB Financial Live Championship.

Seungmin Lee said, “I will play more aggressively in the third and final rounds. I want to make more birdies than in the first and second rounds,” and pledged, “I will definitely try to get into the top 10.” 스포츠토토
